Why Choose the HeadMinder Concussion Management System?

Not all concussion management systems are the same.
Below are some things to consider when choosing a quality system:

How was the test developed? Has it been peer-reviewed?
Peer-reviewed journals allow professionals to evaluate new products in which they have no financial interest. Papers in these journals have higher standards than abstracts and other less-formal procedures, such as speeches or presentations. Peer-reviewed papers detailing test development of the CRI are available at your library or from HeadMinder.

See News / Publications.

Has the test published peer-reviewed findings demonstrating its use in return-to-play decision-making?
We are aware of no other sports concussion test that has published peer-reviewed findings establishing this use. The clinical use of the CRI has been demonstrated in published papers, and the tests come with professional manuals, including the HeadMinder Return-to-Playbook.

See News / Publications and our Case Study / Sample Report.

Does the test have age- and education-based norms to ensure accuracy in clinical decision-making?
Norms based on age and education greatly increase accuracy over the "one size fits all" model. Some of our competitors don't make these distinctions. For example, you would not want to apply the same standards for a high-school freshman as you would for a college or professional player.

Is the test insured?
The HeadMinder system is insured. Insurance by a third party indicates that sound science underlies every return-to-play decision you make.

Is the test compliant with all laws and ethical standards regarding electronic transfer of medical information, interstate commerce, and medical privacy?

See our Privacy Policy.

Is the test convenient and easy to use?
Our tests and results are available from any PC with Internet access, and there is no software to install or download. When evaluating other systems, be sure to ask if software must be loaded onto each computer and if records can be retrieved from multiple locations or shared online with the athlete's physician.

See How It Works and Frequently Asked Questions.

How long do I have to wait for test results?
After a Trauma Test, results are available online immediately, when you need them most. You don't have to call, email, or fax us to have the test scored. We provide you with immediate objective data to consider when making return-to-play decisions for your athletes.
